A little over a year ago I published a blog post titled “My Traveling Art Studio” and it was one of my earliest posts here on Substack. I recently looked back over it and realized that I left a lot out... Hey, I was a newbie and was still finding my groove! Anyway, I thought I’d make a part 2 and give more of an in depth look into the tools I carry (links to everything below!) and how I make it work as a traveling, full time artist. I always love when artists give an inside look into their studio / working space, so I’m excited to share a bit more about mine.
My Art Tools & Supplies
Over the past 3.5 years of life on the road I’ve had to figure out how to travel with as little as possible while ensuring that I always have all the tools and art supplies that I need. Most of the artwork I create is smaller scale which makes things much easier when boppin around from place to place.
I was recently camped out in Utah and thought it would be fun to take some outdoor photos of everything I carry with me. Read the image descriptions for more info on everything!

Making It Work As A Traveling, Full Time Artist
In the beginning, figuring out how I’d go from having my own studio to living a life of travel while making art was a challenge for sure. But I’d say there are three major ways that I’ve made it work as a traveling artist.
Creating smaller scale work - This makes it much easier to transport and carry around. Any large work or framed work will be stored in different places and not travel with me typically.
Dropshipping - Going from printing, packaging and shipping art prints myself to having a print shop take care of everything for me was a game changer. It is pricier but saves a tremendous amount of time and hassle. However, all original art is still packaged and shipped by me and I’d like to keep it that way.
Having a portable table - This allows me to create art anywhere. As long as the space is large enough for my table and my body, I can draw wherever!
Let’s Talk Art.

This is so cool! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing. Question, do you use a local print shop from your home or an online print shop? I'm looking for a print shop for drop shipping with decent quality..
